The Guam Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of music director Dr. Stephen Bednarzyk, consists of approximately 50 dedicated volunteer musicians, most of whom come from Guam. Occasionally, musicians from Saipan, Japan, and Korea join the orchestra for special performances.
One desire of the founders was to provide a means to develop local musical talent. Today, the Society provides performance experiences for amateur and professional musicians. Through the annual Young Artist Competition, children and youth in the community are encouraged to develop their talents.
Favorite events include the Symphony Seaside Concert in December and our exciting Harmony Fair, which features various performing ensembles. Another traditional island favorite, Musikan Famagu'on, is a concert presented to more than 2,000 of our island's fifth grade students, to introduce them to the instruments and sound of a symphony orchestra.
Our orchestra and chorale play an important role in the musical life of the island. As the only organization of its kind in Micronesia, the Guam Symphony Society is dedicated to providing opportunities for musicians and listeners to experience quality symphonic music.

Thank you for visiting the website of the Guam Symphony Society. It is indeed an honor to be involved with an organization that has provided outstanding musical events to the people of Guam for over 40 years.
The Guam Symphony Society was established in 1967 with the hope of affording the people of Guam the opportunity to experience and appreciate orchestral music, as well as providing an opportunity for local amateur and professional musicians to perform. Over the years, the Society has also presented guest musicians from around the world to perform on Guam with our orchestra and chorale.
Dr. Stephen Bednarzyk has put together a wonderful variety of musical selections this season. Staring with "From Russia, With Love" in October, to our annual outdoor Seaside Concert in December, and our season finale Gala performance in May, there is something to interest every musical taste, young and old.
The Guam Symphony Society salutes our many individual and corporate sponsors as well as our dedicated and talented volunteer musicians. Without their continued support, these musical events would not be possible.
